Josef Marzi
Marzi has developed an entirely unique technique that has become a visual signature in and of itself. His practise draws on elements of photography and painterly expression to create rich works that combine traditional realism with abstraction and digital culture.
His extensive travels throughout the world and photographs of iconic structures, picturesque landscapes, seasons and festivals, have inspired his subject matter and innovative application. Each work acts as a treasure chest of black and white photographic prints and pixilated, dot matrix painted overlays.
Marzi has exhibited both in Australia and internationally and has been a finalist in such prizes as the Metro 5 Art Award. He has been shown in commercial galleries in Melbourne, Sydney, London and Italy and is featured in collections in Australia, England, Japan, Italy and Belgium.
